Ideas
Some stories must be told ...
Posted by Christiane Anna K. Lepke 2010-06-07 19:33
"Pipilonte isn't a girl like every other girl, who dreams in pink, loves dolls and stuff like that. No, her heart belongs to "Ferki", a stuffed animal, her favorite sweater and her idol Pipi Longstocking. ... "

We did it again, we made another book. This time we picked up Ilonas idea. She told us about Pipilonte. Ilona had no idea that we were making this book. So we surprised her.

This time we used a different technique. Since we had the story before the pictures (by the way the easiest way to work), could we pick the scenes we wanted to illustrate. I sendt Dagmar a photo for the background. She painted the character(s) and sendt them as PDS back to me. I took the background and adjusted it in PS so it looked more like painted.
That was really fun!

I worked them into my backgrounds:

The book looks like this:

Thank you for the inspiration, Ilona.

"Rudern gegen den Strom"
Posted by Christiane Anna K. Lepke 2010-04-01 21:34
I made a new picture for my sisters working area. She wanted a new image to look at, in color, but not to many colors; somehow calm, but still interesting to look at. The theme should have connection to learning, motivation, future, things like that. And it should be light colored, but no yellow background, (the wall is yellow). Should be good on size A0. After a lot of thinking and many hours of work, I sent her this:

"Rudern gegen den Strom"

New picture frame
Posted by Christiane Anna K. Lepke 2010-02-06 19:08
I needed a proper place for my jewelery. I got an idea and told Vidar about it. He liked it a lot. And before I knew it we were at IKEA and bought picture frames .

He made me my very own jewelry cabinet:

A double picture frame with pictures from our last holiday hiding all that stuff now.

He did this in no time ... (no you can't hire him) ;)

Thank you, my dear!

Our very own fantasy book
Posted by Christiane Anna K. Lepke 2009-12-03 21:07
How it started:

It all started with me playing in photoshop again. I tried
a new technique. And I sent the result to my sister Dagmar in Germany.
She liked it a lot and asked me to do another one.

I made a new picture, even better than the first and our idea was born:

Lets make a book. A fantasy book.

The process

All figures in the book are family members. (Our parents, us siblings and our children).

Internet made it possible for Dagmar and me to work closely. I made all
the pictures. Together we created the story. Dagmar spiced it up, so it
was fun to read. She did the lay out too. The proofreading we did together in Pdf.
It looked like this:

The story
Bruno woke up after a hard night partying, sitting on a bench in front of the mall.
He didn't realize that things are behaving in a strange way around him. His hangover was bad.
But then he saw that the facade of the mall was moving like a curtain ...
He gets drawn into a world between worlds, full of strange little people.

(a special thanks to Schnette)

Dagmar, a little proud.

The book

The Dedication
It was clear from the beginning that this will be our special gift to
our oldest sister, who was the big sister everybody should have. She
was always there for us when we needed it the most. So we dedicated the
book to her and she got it on her birthday in december.

Happy Birthday, Manuela! :)

My family portrait project
Posted by Christiane Anna K. Lepke 2009-11-22 13:03
My family portrait project.

I wanted a big picture on the wall and decided to make one myself. I had a family portrait in mind.
But getting 4 teenagers in one picture, ... well I didn't even try it.
So
I looked for different symbols that goes together.
Shoes are everywhere
here, so I was more or less stumbling over the solution.

The text behind is a piece out of "Zeit" from Roger Stein.
Zeit means time in German.
Time is precious, especially the time with our children, and with each other.
I like the way Stein rolls the word Zeit throughout the text.
How he is bending, turning and using it in every possible way.

It's refreshing to read. Modern German can be quite poetic.

After I had the picture finished I had to get it printed on canvas. My dear friend Trygve in Arendal did that job!
An his wife Siri gave good advice, before we printed it in the size I wanted (60 cm X 120 cm).
Vidar framed it for me and now it's hanging in our dining room.

Thanks for everything!

Anna, autum 2009
